Wayfarers are the playable characters in Journey. A Wayfarer controlled by another player is known as a Companion.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Wayfarer can exist in 2 versions: White and Red. White wayfarer has an additional "mouth" on the face which red wayfarer doesn't have. Wayfarers have spiky, feetless legs. They always wear cloaks which cover their bodies. The level of embroidary depends on how many times the player played the game from start to finish. The wayfarer's symbol will glow on it's chest, just below the face. The head itself has colour identical to the cloak, except the black face. Wayfarer's eyes are glowing white, there is also a band just above the eyes and a triangular "mouth" if the wayfarer is white. What's notible is that wayfarers have no hands/arms. This is supposedly done on purpose in order to not allow players to punch each other.
Development[edit | edit source]
Early versions of the Wayfarer were a lot more human-like and ninja-like, hence why they were called "Cloth Ninjas" in the code - an artifact of development that still exists in the code today.
Notes[edit | edit source]
The Japanese name "Tabibito" means "traveling person," or "traveler."
In fanon[edit | edit source]
Wayfarers are sometimes portrayed as non-cloath humanoids, with faces under the mask, and arms under the cloak.
